The Herb Lake Graveyard, Manitoba
The Herb Lake Graveyard is on the shores of Wekusko Lake approximately 5 miles from the now ghost town of Herb Lake.
The community of Herb Lake Landing, on the south shores of Wekusko Lake, plans to erect a cairn in the summer of 2012
to honor and remember the pioneers that are buried in this graveyard.
The graveyard is not easily accessible and has not been maintained.
The Snow Lake Elks in the 1960s did some cleanup on the graveyard and there was some cleanup done in 1997 for the 80th centennial of Herb Lake and Herb Lake Landing.
A couple years ago a 13-year old boy
did some clearing with a chain saw and his work is much appreciated.
The cairn at Herb Lake Landing MB will be erected at the "Gathering Place" and it is hoped that people who have family buried in this old graveyard will gather at the cairn,
rather than attempt to locate the graveyard which can only be accessed by boat and a walk through a forested area.
These photos were taken in September 1996.
