THE HERB LAKE GRAVEYARD, MB
(Inscription on Cairn to be erected at Herb Lake Landing MB)

The abandoned Herb Lake Graveyard, located 16 km on the northeast shores of Wekusko Lake, near the ghost town of Herb Lake, is the final resting place for some of the local pioneers. The graveyard was established in the 1930's when the Herb Lake gold mines were active. Most of the grave markers were simple wooden crosses which have now disintegrated. When the community failed in the late 1950's, the graveyard became overgrown and fell into disrepair. It has now returned to wilderness and since the graves are no longer accessible, friends and family gather here to remember their loved ones.
